Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. Massage therapy does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues (the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Although it largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscle and possibly even the organs themselves.

Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.

Homeopathic Consultations

Homeopathy, also known as homeopathic medicine, is a medical system that was developed in Germany more than 200 years ago. It’s based on two unconventional theories; “Like cures like”—the notion that a disease can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in healthy people, and “Law of minimum dose”—the notion that the lower the dose of the medication, the greater its effectiveness. Many homeopathic products are so diluted that no molecules of the original substance remain.

Homeopathic products come from plants (such as red onion, arnica [mountain herb], poison ivy, belladonna [deadly nightshade], and stinging nettle), minerals (such as white arsenic), or animals (such as crushed whole bees). Homeopathic products are often made as sugar pellets to be placed under the tongue; they may also be in other forms, such as ointments, gels, drops, creams, and tablets. Treatments are “individualized” or tailored to each person—it’s common for different people with the same condition to receive different treatments.

Acupuncture

Meet Dr. Tavakoli
Since 1993, Dr. Tavakoli has been providing excellent quality of care to patients seeking relief from neck, back, and joint pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, post-traumatic stress disorder as well as treating women’s issues such as PMS, menopause, and fertility. He has extensive training and experience in Chinese and Japanese acupuncture and in several additional specialties within the field of natural medicine.

Dr. Tavakoli’s expertise has helped to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western medicine. He has demonstrated how both philosophies of care can work hand in hand. This benefits not only patients but also physicians, who appreciate the value of adding natural healing methods to traditional protocols.

Dr. Tavakoli received his training at the New England School of Acupuncture and is Nationally Board Certified. He is a Licensed Acupuncturist under the Board of Medicine in Massachusetts and a Doctor of Acupuncture in Rhode Island. In past years, he has also served as the Vice President of the Acupuncture Association of Rhode Island.

Dr. Tavakoli is available at It's My Health on Mondays and Fridays.

Reiki

Reiki is Universal Life-giving Energy and can be used for all purposes, conditions and situations. It can be safely used at any time, in any place and for any purpose. To practice or receive Reiki, no faith or belief is required. It is for everyone.

Reiki energy balances and harmonizes. If there is too much energy in an area, or if there is not enough, the area is out of balance and when there is imbalance, there is potential for illness. In a balanced state, the individual has the potential for self-healing.

Our Reiki Master Teachers include: Sue Corrigan, Karen Lewis, Linda Menard, and Marie Bouvier-Newman
